Glassdoor names Motley Fool best small company

WASHINGTON — Motley Fool in Alexandria, Virginia tops Glassdoor’s 2015 list as the best small- or medium-sized company for which to work, based on employee feedback.

Google ranked as the No. 1 place to work in the Glassdoor’s Employees’ Choice Awards 2015 for companies with 1,000 or more employees.

Ratings are on a five-star scale. Google received 4.5 out of five stars. Glassdoor, a website with a database of millions of company reviews and salary reports, requires at least 50 employee reviews to determine its rankings for large companies and 20 for companies with fewer than 1,000 workers.

Motley Fool, a multimedia financial-services company, received 107 reviews, with 95 percent of workers saying they would recommend the company to a friend and 94 percent approving of CEO Tom Gardner.

One review from a current Motley Fool editor says the company offers “excellent benefits (no vacation policy, treadmill desks, tons of free books), fantastic culture, great people. Lots of upward mobility, you really get to determine your future here.”
