    It won't change
    The usual government strategy. Make the people afraid. Restrict freedom in the interest of 'security'. A certain number of sheep will run and turn in or register what they already own. Most will not. It could drive the market underground, make ammunition harder to buy, but that's about all. They made drugs illegal. Didn't work. They made alcohol illegal. Didn't work and they had to backpedal. This is America. Gun ownership is one of the things that sets us apart. The fact that there can be abuses or accidents is part of the price of freedom. If I wanted to live in a dictatorship or a socialist country, I'd go move there.
