    I always thought men and women were equal agressive drivers at young age. Crazy people driving their cars like they're on the race track everyday. The older people are generally the slow ones.

    I'm surprised,
    considering relative testosterone levels, but I should not be. Clearly the phenomenon (as well as men and women) are more complex that gonadal hormones alone. That's not news.

    Perhaps women have a greater variety of tasks, and more different geographical places to do them, compared to men. Maybe men to expend the same total energy getting through their days, but need apply that energy relatively at fewer types of complex tasks, and in fewer different places.

    This is a way more parsimonious explanation than some conjured assertion about "subconscious need to break free of society's expectations."

    I tend to agree w this assessment that (in this area and other big Metro areas) women
    are a bit more likely to become verbally aggressive in a traffic snarl. However, a guy, esp. a big, hulking angry guy is, of course, much more likely to get out of his car and go blow to blow w somebody.

    I think the problem with this survey is that it is a self assessment
    The article says "According to a recent CareerBuilder.com poll, 61 percent of women reported they are prone to road rage compared to just 56 percent of men."

    This survey surprised me only because it has been my experience that men seem to be the more aggressive. Do I think men lied? No.....at least not all of them. I just don't think they recognize themselves as aggressive drivers.

    Polls are dubious to begin with if you don't know the questions. Self assessments rely on you knowing yourself....and freely disclosing it.

    Perhaps women just admit ...
    ...more easily to being aggressive drivers than men do. I despise seeing articles like this that show results yet have absolutely no scientific data. Both sexes have their share of aggressive drivers (according to my experience in this area).

    reckless or wreckless?
    I see more overt aggression in male drivers, but women are more likely to be dangerously distracted texting or yapping on the cell. I'm not sure which is worse -- someone in control of their car and selectively wielding it as a weapon, or someone blissfully unaware of their surroundings randomly causing chaos.
