All of the Bill of Rights are equal
    Chris,

Several days ago in your piece on guns you said something to the effect of we don't need guns that do X. Please remember that its the Bill or Rights, not the Bill of Needs or Bill of Wants. The 2nd Amendment gives us the right to keep and bear arms (and all that goes with it).

Using your analogy, I would say that the 1st Amendment only gives you the right to speak X but not Y. We both know that's not the way it works. You have free speech to say what you want when you want. You can even yell "FIRE!!" in a crowded room, but you'll have to pay the consequences.

The point is that you and the rest of the media get all up in arms (yes pun intended) when someone attacks your 1st Amendment but you (collectively, the media) will readily line up to bash the very next Amendment in that precious document.

Treating each amendment wholly and great reverence is a Core Value.
