Well said, Dave
The Skins' season was a roller coaster but they seem to be forming the cohesion they'll need to excel. We need an offense that can execute plays across more of the field than a short pass of 3-5 yeards can deliver, but we have a great defense and a coach that has the right demeanor to take the team to a better record next year.
The Caps' change in leadership was the right medicine for a team that had plenty of talent and no direction. Bruce B is the man with the vision and the ability to lead that will continue to make a difference. We have a team of great players, not just some great players on the team, and that is a key to success!
The Wizards? Not making it, not in any way. I'm not sure that replacing the ugliest coach in the NBA helped at all, because he also happened to be one of the best coaches in the NBA. His talent refused to get its act together and play as a team - and no coach can deal with that attitude.
The Nats have a lot of ingredients available to succeed, but no recipe to help them understand how much of each they need to build a successful franchise. If Manny et al can take the money out of the equation and look at how the most successful teams operate, they can emulate that and build their own version of success.
Well, that's enough. Dave, you have served the city well in 2008. I was so sorry to hear of your dad's passing when that was announced, but I know he'd be proud of the way you have carried on while never forgetting. Have a Happy New Year!
I hope we don't get into a situation where Coach Zorn doesn't have to change Portis diapers. Being a Steeler fan I'm in question of all these writing of him as as a great football player..Cartwright could replace him given the playing time! For Washington sake, I hope they look hard and deep in this years running backs out of the draft!
Ed
