Charges Are Pending as Volunteer Officer Fights for Life

WASHINGTON - Charges are pending against a 19 year-old Virginia woman in connection with the injury of one of the District's reserve volunteer police officers.

Reserve Officer Joseph Pozell was directing traffic in Georgetown when he was struck by a sport-utility vehicle traveling through the intersection of M Street and Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest just after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Pozell, who manages the Oak Hill Cemetery has been a reserve officer for three years. He's in critical condition at George Washington University Medical Center.

The Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Unit is continuing their investigation of the crash.
