Party's Over for Club U

June 29, 2005 - 2:38pm
WASHINGTON - Last call for Club U.

The city's Alcoholic Beverage Control Board pulled the nightclub's liquor license for good Wednesday.

A spokesman for the board says they found the club was being used for unlawful and disorderly purposes.

The permanent revocation comes four months after a man was stabbed and killed in a hallway outside the club, located in the D.C. government's Reeves Center.

It's one of numerous crimes linked to the troubled nightspot.

Leaders have said nearly a dozen stabbings, shootings and assaults -- including three homicides in the last two years -- have happened in or outside of the club.

Police Chief Charles Ramsey and Mayor Tony Williams were among those urging the club be shutdown.
