WTOP’s Mark Segraves hosts Ward 5 debate at Catholic University

WASHINGTON – WTOP’s Mark Segraves traded in his fedora and press ticket for a debate gavel last weekend, as he hosted the candidates vying to be Ward 5’s next member of the D.C. Council.

The five candidates responded to dozens of questions on topics ranging from medical marijuana and internet gambling.

The candidates — Tim Day, Kathy Henderson, Delano Hunter, Kenyan McDuffie and Frank Wilds — challenged each other on their track records in the community. One candidate disclosed he has accepted campaign contributions from a controversial strip club.

The debate was held at Catholic University’s Pryzbyla Center at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3.

Presented by the League of Women Voters of the District of Columbia, Brookland Heartbeat newspaper and WTOP, the debate was to be non-partisan.
