Portis, Haynesworth sit out Redskins practice

September 30, 2009 - 4:13pm

ASHBURN, Va. - Running back Clinton Portis and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth are among the gimpy Washington Redskins.

Portis, Haynesworth, cornerback Carlos Rogers and fullback Mike Sellers sat out practice Wednesday. Coach Jim Zorn was optimistic all four will play Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Portis was kicked in the calf in the loss to the Lions and has been battling bone spurs in his ankles. Haynesworth has a strained hip muscle. Rogers has a slightly swollen ankle, and Sellers has a bruised thigh muscle.

Haynesworth's injury looked much more serious when he was carted off the field against Detroit, but Zorn said: "I suspect by the end of the week he'll be out there."
