Lost phone? Need a bathroom? There’s an app for that

WASHINGTON — It seems like smartphones can do anything these days, and they basically can. Some cool free apps can take the guesswork out of finding a lost phone or locating a clean toilet.

Find My iPhone not only finds a phone, it also sends a message, sounds an alert and even locks the keypad.

If your laptop or phone is stolen, Prey will come to the rescue. The app can command a computer’s webcam to take a picture of the thief and where he’s hiding.

Also, FastCustomer for iPhone and Android lets users skip waiting on hold. It connects people directly to the customer service of 2,000 companies including AAA, Comcast, Bank of America and Southwest Airlines.

Of course, we’ve all found ourselves in the unenviable position of needing a public bathroom, fast. What happens if you need relief away from home? Well, there’s an app for that.

Sit or Squat provides ranking, business hours and even phone numbers for some locations. Just plug in an address and let your smartphone do the rest.
