Study: Men with guitars are more attractive to women

WASHINGTON – Once again, science proves what many women already know: Men with guitars are more attractive to the opposite sex.

Researchers from the University of Bretagne-Sud and the University of Paris-Sud sent out an attractive man to approach 300 women in Paris between the ages of 18 and 22 to ask for their phone numbers. One-third of the time he carried a gym bag, one-third of the time he was empty-handed and one-third of the time he had a guitar, New York Daily News reports.

He got numbers only 14 percent of the time while empty-handed, and 9 percent of the time with a gym bag. His success rate jumped to 31 percent with the guitar.

Researchers say that perhaps playing music is “associated with physical and intellectual abilities” or also associated with “attractive concepts of wealth and status.”
