WASHINGTON — Yellow evidence markers pepper the D.C. playground where a 7-year- old girl was shot Tuesday evening.

Metropolitan Police Department says the girl was shot in the leg at the Park Morton Apartment Complex playground, located along Morton Street, in Northwest, at about 7:20 p.m. She was one of two people shot at a playground.

The police say a man was also shot in the back in a related incident. They say both people’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Police were out Wednesday talking to neighbors and scouring the playground for any evidence.

Police say they are searching for a black man about 19 or 20 years old. The man is about 5 foot, 4 inches tall and wore a black hoodie, black skullcap and sunglasses at the time of the shooting.
