NEW ORLEANS – After surviving the last few seconds of the game, ‘Skins fans who made the long trek to the Superdome went into instant party mode.

The Redskins faithful traveled to New Orleans to watch their new quarterback take on New Orleans’ powerhouse the Saints.

“That got my nerves up. I almost had a cardiac!” said Melvin Bowden of D.C., who had a bird’s-eye view of the end zone where the Redskins scored many of their 40 points.

Sitting next to Bowden, Stephanie Smith, who also lives in D.C., said, “I thought the game was exciting, scary, but I love (Saints quarterback) Drew Brees too. But I was so, so thankful the Redskins pulled it off.”

And, Yvonne Robinson, of Waldorf, Md., who also traveled to New Orleans to attend the game, couldn’t contain her excitement.

“I’ve been a season ticket holder since 1980. I’m excited for R.G. III. Can’t wait to get back home!”

Before that, however, many of the burgundy and gold faithful took advantage of the Big Easy’s party atmosphere and continued their weekend-long trek along Bourbon Street.
