Johnson scores 17 in Arizona scrimmage

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Freshman Stanley Johnson won the dunk contest and then led all scorers with 17 points in the Arizona Wildcats’ Red-Blue scrimmage at McKale Center on Saturday.

Johnson had two slams in the game after winning the pre-scrimmage contest, scoring perfect 10s from three judges as he took his own bounce pass, went between the legs and threw down a clean right-handed jam. He made 7 of 13 shots for the Blue team.

Sophomore forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson scored 13 to lead the Red, which won 53-46. Freshman Dusan Ristic, a 7-footer expected to back up third-year starting center Kaleb Tarczewski, made 7 of 8 shots and scored 14 points.

Freshman power forward Craig Victor scored 12 points. Tarczewski had 13 points and a scrimmage-best nine rebounds. Junior forward Brandon Ashley had seven points in his return to the court after breaking his foot against Cal on Feb. 1.
