Buffalo AD White agrees to 5-year extension

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — University at Buffalo athletic director Danny White has agreed to a five-year contract extension that runs through 2019.

The school announced the deal Wednesday, a little over two years after White took over running the Mid-American Conference member.

White has set forth an ambitious plan to expand the Bulls’ national profile. It began last summer, when Buffalo placed a larger emphasis on “New York” because of its position as the state university system’s flagship school.

“New York” is now more prominently displayed on team logos.

White also overhauled his coaching staff. The most notable switch came in March 2013, when former Duke star point guard Bobby Hurley was hired to coach the men’s basketball team.

School president Satish Tripathi credited White’s contributions as being “vital” to the institution.
