Ex-UTSA coach Rae Rippetoe-Blair killed in crash

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Rae Rippetoe-Blair, the former UT-San Antonio women’s basketball coach who set a school record for career wins, has died in a motorcycle accident on an Austin freeway flyover ramp. She was 52.

Her mother, Anita Rippetoe, told the Austin American-Statesman (http://bit.ly/1m0EKG6) that her daughter was riding to sell her vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycle when she lost control on the Loop 1 ramp to U.S. 183, hit the barrier and went over the side.

Rippetoe-Blair coached the Roadrunners to a 216-173 record in 13 seasons, leading them to the NCAA tournament in 2008 and 2009. She resigned after the 2012-13 season to care for husband Craig, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and died in March at age 51.
