James Madison beats Charlotte 48-40

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Vad Lee passed for four touchdowns and ran for two more Saturday and James Madison beat Charlotte 48-40.

Ryan Maglio added field goals of 49 and 18 yards and the Dukes (5-3, 3-2 Colonial) never trailed.

Lee was 32 of 47 for 333 yards, with TD passes of 39 yards to Daniel Brown, 8 yards to Ishmael Hyman, 5 yards to Andre Coble and his 29-yarder to Brandon Ravenel gave James Madison a 48-33 lead with 3:35 left. Lee gained 71 yards on 12 carries with scoring runs of 5 and 8 yards.

Matt Johnson threw TD passes of 98 yards to Austin Duke and 1-yard to Richard Murphy for Charlotte (3-5). Kalif Phillips gained 168 yards on 22 carries and scored on runs of 1 and 45 yards.

Lee McNeill had an 8-yard TD run and Blake Brewer kicked field goals of 26 and 47 yards for the 49ers.
