CINCINNATI (AP) — A staff member with the University of Cincinnati football team plans to appeal his firing after being arrested on a misdemeanor sexual abuse charge in northern Kentucky.
James Noll, an attorney for Antrione Archer, said in a statement Wednesday the university acted prematurely in firing Archer, who has requested a 60-day leave to resolve the issue in court. Archer, the team’s director of player welfare and development, was fired Tuesday.
Court records said Archer was accused of exposing himself and touching another adult at a grocery store in Kenton County, Kentucky, in May. Noll said the incident, captured by a security camera, involved Archer “having consensual close conversations in the pharmacy aisles followed by consensual dancing of a rhythmic nature.”
Noll said Archer regrets the embarrassment caused by the incident.
