Stolen motorcycle and SUV collide in Md. fatal crash

WASHINGTON — Anne Arundel County police responded to a report of a crash involving a stolen motorcycle and an SUV at Route 198 and Race Track Road on Saturday night. Officers were dispatched at approximately 10:39 p.m. on March 8.

The preliminary investigation revealed that two motorcycles were traveling west on Route 198 from Brock Bridge Road but due to the severity of the injuries, officers from the Traffic Safety Section responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

According to a police statement and investigation, the motorcycles approached the Race Track Road intersection when an Isuzu Rodeo was making a left turn onto the road. One of the motorcycles struck the side of the Isuzu, ejecting the rider of the motorcycle. The rider is reported to be a juvenile white male.

The Isuzu continued through the intersection but came to a stop on Race Track Road. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Isuzu was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The other motorcycle fled the scene without stopping.

The motorcycle that was involved in the crash was reported stolen through Howard County Police. Excessive speed appears to be factor in this crash.
