WASHINGTON – The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington is designating Sunday as “Good Deeds Day.”

The federation joins Jewish communities around the world in observing the day to honor the memories of a rabbi and three children murdered at a Jewish Day School in France last week.

The goal of “Good Deeds Day” is to serve and improve local communities, according to a release by the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.

More than 1,000 volunteers are expected to participate in more than 40 events and community service opportunities all over Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.
