2 Treated for Hypothermia After Pond Rescue

January 3, 2008 - 10:53am
CENTREVILLE, Va. - Two men were treated for hypothermia at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital after one rescued the other from a chilly pond Wednesday night.

Fairfax County Police tell WTOP a driver lost control of a minivan and splashed into a retaining pond on Walney Road at Route 28.

A second driver who witnessed the plunge rushed to help.

The rescuer used a stick to pull the first man out of the freezing water.

The Fairfax County dive team will retrieve the van on Thursday.
