Va. boy dresses as Klan member for Halloween

WASHINGTON – A Virginia boy’s Halloween costume is sparking controversy in Craigsville, Va.

WHSV in Harrisonburg reports that a 7-year-old Craigsville boy dressed as a member of the Ku Klux Klan with a white cone-shaped hood and white robe.

The boy’s mother Jessica Black tells WHSV that her brother previously dressed as a member of the Klan and she considered it a family tradition. She didn’t see anything inappropriate about her son’s choice but warned him that people would say “bad things about you when you wear it.”

A neighbor told the station the costume was unacceptable and offensive.

Craigsville is west of Waynesboro near the West Virginia state line.
