Bike builders pay tribute to military branches

WASHINGTON – In honor of the 26th annual Rolling Thunder ride, there are new tribute bikes on display this Memorial Day weekend honoring each branch of the military. But one of the builders has a surprising identity – a prisoner.

Billy Lane is known for his appearances in Discovery Channel’s “Biker Build Off,” which features his biking company, Choppers Inc. In 2009, he was sentenced to prison for vehicular homicide after killing a park ranger while under the influence. But his imprisonment didn’t stop Rolling Thunder from reaching out to the builder and asking him to create the tribute Air Force bike.
