Merry Christmas and may you not be eaten by a jaguar

WASHINGTON – Nothing embodies the spirit of Christmas more than a stuffed jaguar lunging at the throat of a stuffed antelope, as members of your family smile into the camera.

According to HuffPost LatinoVoices Jorge Santini, the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, surprised everyone with a 2011 Christmas card featuring his family gathered around a scene out of “Wild Kingdom.”

The photo landed the mayor and his family on the website Awkward Family Photos.

What may be even more strange, however, is the little girl in the lower left corner, striking a very sassy pose as she rests her arm ever so casually on the carnivorous scene.

FYI: The bottom of the card reads: “May this Christmas light your dream.”

HuffPost reports that some political rivals have interpreted the photograph as a warning to opponents in the upcoming election.

The mayor, however, says he was promoting the San Juan Wildlife Museum.
