Trade gift cards for frequent flier miles

United-Continental Airlines will now let passengers trade in their gift cards for some frequent-flier miles.

The gift cards have to have at least $25 still on them, and they need be from one of 60 approved stores, including Ann Taylor, Kohl’s, Starbucks and Home Depot.

The airline will determine how many miles the cards are worth, USA TODAY reports.

United says there is no limit on the number of gift cards flyers can exchange, although it could take five days for the miles to be deposited in its MileagePlus plan.

To find which retailers are participating, go to the MileagePlus page and click on “Gift card retailer list” at the bottom.
