WASHINGTON — MARC trains are working for the weekend.
Starting Saturday, service will be available on the Penn Line. The fares are the same as weekday service — $7 from Baltimore to Washington, $6 from Baltimore/Washington International airport to Washington and $5 from Odenton to Washington. Weekly and monthly passes are accepted.
Nine round trips will be offered on Saturdays. Six round trips will be available on Sundays.

“It’s important to have a link between Baltimore and Washington, D.C.,” Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley says. “Weekend service is not only about people who want to go on a day trip to see the sites — it’s also about the people who have jobs.”
Maryland Transportation Secretary Jim Smith says the addition of weekend MARC service will make a significant difference for passengers traveling to BWI.
“About 45 percent of our BWI-Marshall travelers come from the DC area,” he says. “Having weekend service is going to be very helpful for their scheduling of flights when they go away for a weekend and come back on a Sunday.”
About 25,000 passengers use the Penn Line on average per month, which comprises about 70 percent of the overall MARC ridership.
