Metro GM apologizes for Red Line problems

WASHINGTON – Metro’s general manager is apologizing to customers for this week’s Red Line problems.

Metro tweeted the apology after multiple problems occurred on the Red Line Thursday.

According to Metro’s Twitter feed, the problems on the Red Line Thursday included a signal problem outside of Fort Totten, a door problem at Dupont Circle and a disabled train outside Brookland.

The delays are frustrating riders. Some riders said their delays were up to an hour.

Metro has had problems this week with both the Red and Orange Lines.

Sarles, in his apology, says steps are being taken to improve service.

Here’s what his apology says:

I want to apologize for the delays and inconvenience you have experienced recently. I know that service on the Red Line has not been good over the past several days. Be assured, we are focused on these issues and are taking steps to improve service.

We will have more information about this morning’s service posted here later today, and I will tell you about changes we are making to address this situation.

Again, I apologize for the delays you have experienced, and thank you for riding Metro.

Sincerely,
Richard R Sarles
General Manager & CEO
