Chicago Man Devours 19 Pizza Slices in Greenbelt

GREENBELT, Md. - The smaller man turned in the best performance Saturday as competitive eating contestants came to the Washington area to boost their world rankings.

Patrick Bertoletti of Chicago gulped down a record 19 slices of pizza in ten minutes during a competition at Beltway Plaza Mall in Greenbelt.

That was good enough to earn the 150-pounder the $5,000 top prize.

Bertoletti holds records for eating 14 pints of ice cream in eight minutes and 92 ounces of corned beef and cabbage in ten minutes.

Those records were set in separate competitions.

During an amateur event held before the pro match, a 105-pound Germantown woman bested larger college-aged competitors by eating eleven slices of pizza in ten minutes.

Thirty-nine year-old Juliet Lee says she doesn't even like pizza.

She'll give the year's supply she won to friends and family.
