Vice Principal Indicted on Child Sex Charges

March 26, 2008 - 3:07pm
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - A local vice principal indicted on child sex abuse charges has turned himself into police.

Shadrick Woods, 39, was indicted on child sex abuse charges involving a six-year-old boy at Gaywood Elementary School in Prince George's County.

The Lanham resident is accused of sexually abusing the boy on school grounds from December 2007 until March 2008.

"Sexual abuse is a horrible crime, and even more so when it involves a very young child," says Glenn Ivey, Prince George's County state's attorney. "While we want to support our educators, we cannot condone inappropriate and or dangerous behavior toward our youth."

Woods turned himself in to police Wednesday morning. Bond has been set at $50,000. Woods will be arraigned within the next 30 days with an exact date to be determined.

Woods has no prior record.
