Man struck, killed by Secret Service vehicle

TEMPLE HILLS, Md. - A man has been struck and killed by two Secret Service vehicles at an intersection in Temple Hills.

The vehicles were on their way back to the garage after escorting Vice President Joe Biden on his trip to Fort Lewis. Biden was not with the detail. Both vehicles are owned and operated by the Secret Service.

The pedestrian was hit around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Suitland Parkway and Naylor Road in Temple Hills.

The man was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly with critical injuries. He died a short time later.

Police are waiting to notify the man's family before they release his identity.

Both drivers stayed at the scene, and no charges have been filed at this point.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
