No paddling across Potomac to Inauguration

January 16, 2009 - 6:45am
WASHINGTON - Kayakers, forget it. You won't be able to paddle across the Potomac on Inauguration Day.

The Coast Guard isn't letting you.

The Potomac River will close to all other traffic from south of the Wilson Bridge.

You'll see 40 Coast Guard vessels out there patrolling the river.

You can take the water taxi. The Potomac Riverboat Co. will run it from the Alexandria waterfront (Union and Cameron streets) to Maine Avenue (600 Water St.).

It will cost you $90 roundtrip or $50 one way.
