WASHINGTON - Two-time Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington was in D.C. on Wednesday to shed light on an organization he says helped get him where he is today.
Washington was in town as part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's BE GREAT advocacy campaign, which challenges the nation to make America's young people a top priority.
He says the Boys & Girls Clubs changed his life.
"This is what I came from. This is what I'm here for. This is what makes me happy," Washington says.
Washington and other famous alumni - like Muhammad Ali, Bill Clinton, Bill Cosby, Mario Lopez, Usher, and Mark Wahlberg - are uniting to show how the clubs can have a positive impact on kids.
He says it's important for kids to speak their dreams "and say out loud what you believe, and what you feel, and what you want to achieve."
