Repair Work Closes Potomac Freeway Ramp

WASHINGTON — Drivers who usually take the Potomac Freeway are taking a detour Monday.

Construction crews closed the ramp leading to the Whitehurst Freeway at 6 a.m. The ramp will reopen at 6 a.m. Wednesday,

The month-long repair project is expected to be completed by Feb. 23, weather permitting, officials say.

In the meantime, Karyn LeBlanc, a spokeswoman for the District's Department of Transportation, says drivers should pay extra attention to the detour signs.

The department urges drivers traveling from I-66/Potomac Freeway to take a left to exit onto Rock Creek Parkway, bear right at the yield sign on 27th Street, N.W. Drivers should make a left onto K Street to travel onto Whitehurst Freeway.
