D.C. Drivers are the Least Knowledgeable

November 17, 2007 - 4:32pm
Evan Haning, WTOP Radio

WASHINGTON-- D.C tops a list of having the least knowledgeable drivers in the nation.

That's according to the General Motors Acceptance Corporation 2007 national driver's test.

The city joins New Jersey and New York in that category.

Some of the test questions included asking drivers what they should do when approaching a stopped school bus with flashing red lights. (The answer is you should stop).

However, D.C. drivers got less than 73 percent of these type of questions right.

The national average on the test was 77 percent.

Maryland and Virginia motorists fared better on the test.

Maryland drivers scored neared the national average, while Virginia drivers scored 75 percent.
