Driver dies after car crashes into pole in Riverdale

WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County police officers are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred Sunday morning in Riverdale.

Jose Manuel Manrique, of 64th Place in Riverdale, died in the crash. He was 25.

Patrol officers were called to the 6900 block of Riverdale Road for a reported single-car crash. When they arrived, police discovered the car had struck a utility pole. Manrique, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, Manrique was headed westbound on Riverdale Road. For whatever reason, his car crossed over the eastbound lanes, left the roadway and struck the pole.
