Six Flags coaster that stranded 24 people running again

WASHINGTON — The roller coaster that stranded 24 people for hours at Six Flags in Prince George’s County is up and running again.

Officials at Six Flags said at the time of the Aug. 10 incident that the Jokers Jinx roller coaster operated as it was designed to do when a problem is detected. After an investigation and inspection, Havilah Ross, Marketing and Communications Director with Six Flags says the coaster is operational.

As to what exactly caused the problem in the first place, Six Flags issued a statement saying “a technical issue with the launch prevented the train from gaining sufficient speed to complete its full cycle. After making the necessary adjustments and following re-inspection, the ride was re-opened.”

The 17 adults and 7 children who were stuck on the ride near its highest point were rescued by Prince George’s County firefighters who specialize in what are called “high angle rescues”. All were brought off the ride safely.
