Pedestrian killed by commuter train outside DC

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) — Amtrak says service between Washington and Philadelphia has been resumed after a man was struck and killed on the tracks in suburban Maryland.

Prince George’s County police say the man was fatally struck around 2:40 p.m. Friday in Capitol Heights, just over the District of Columbia line. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

The man was hit by a MARC Penn Line commuter train bound for Baltimore.

Amtrak says passengers should expect delays throughout the evening because of congestion on the tracks. MARC trains were also delayed.
