D.C. man arrested in connection with Md. murder

WASHINGTON – Police have arrested a 34-year-old suspect in a Hillcrest Heights murder that occurred Tuesday night.

Duane Lamar Williams of the 2600 block of 18th Street in SE D.C. was arrested in connection with a shooting that left a 27-year-old Baltimore man dead.

Prince George’s County police identified the victim as Eric Eugene Walker, who was pumping gas in the 2900 block of Colebrook Drive when Williams approached him with a gun.

Williams chased Walker across Branch Avenue and shot him multiple times.

An off-duty Metropolitan Police Department officer in a nearby car attempted to arrest the suspect, at which point Williams pointed his gun at the officer and tried to fire at him, but his gun did not discharge.

The off-duty officer was not hurt.

Officers found Williams nearby and suspected he was high on PCP. They used their Tasers multiple times to subdue Williams, but it did not take effect.

Officers were eventually able to arrest Williams, who has been charged with first and second degree murder.
