WASHINGTON – Mario Bonds is back in town.

The 24-year-old Prince George’s County, Md. native has been in Hollywood working on the second season of Oxygen’s The Glee Project.

This Friday Feb. 15, he’s performing a benefit concert at Imagination Stage called “Love, Friendship, and Possibility: A Benefit Concert by Mario Bonds.” It’s in support of Imagination Stage’s Access and Inclusion programs for students with disabilities.

Bonds went completely blind by the age of 9 due to a degenerative eye disease.

He will be joined on stage by Imagination Stage’s high school musical theater students for select songs.

Despite his blindness and other obstacles, Bonds never lost his drive to perform and has become as accomplished singer, actor, dancer and musician. He believes music has healing powers and his love for the performing arts sustained him through the tough times.

Imagination Stage is located at 4908 Auburn Ave., Bethesda, Md. The performance is on Feb. 15, 2013 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $40 for orchestra seating and $25 for balcony seating, available online at www.imaginationstage.org, at the Imagination Stage box office, or by phone by calling 301-280-1660.
