Maradona sings song mocking Brazil’s 7-1 loss

SAO PAULO (AP) — Video footage posted on Brazilian news portals shows Argentina legend Diego Maradona enthusiastically singing a chant mocking Brazil’s humiliating 1-7 loss to Germany in the World Cup semifinals.

The video images posted Friday by the websites of the O Globo and Folha de S. Paulo newspapers show Maradona inside the World Cup’s International Broadcast Center in Rio de Janeiro celebrating Brazil’s loss with the staff of an Argentine television network.

Maradona celebrated the result with an adaptation of a song sung by Argentina fans in Brazil.

The song that uses the tune of “Bad Moon Rising” begins with “Brasil, decime que se siente” (“Brazil, tell me how it feels”), but Maradona changed this to “Brasil, decime que se siete” — Spanish for seven.

Maradona is commenting on World Cup games for Venezuelan television network Telesur.
