Former FBI negotiator lands 6-figure book deal

NEW YORK (AP) — A former FBI hostage negotiator has a six-figure deal with an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers for a book entitled “Killer Deals.”

HarperBusiness was the winner in a nine-publisher auction for Chris Voss’ guide on how to apply the techniques he used in extraordinary situations to more everyday settings, whether in a business meeting, a classroom or a private home.

HarperBusiness editor Colleen Lawrie said in a statement Thursday that Voss’ background makes “Killer Deals” both a “thrilling read” and a useful handbook. Voss is collaborating on the book with Tahl Raz, who co-wrote with Keith Ferrazzi the best-selling “Never Eat Alone.”

A publication date has not been set. Voss is now a speaker and social media consultant. He was represented by Steve Ross of the Abrams Artists Agency.
