WASHINGTON — Remember “Batkid” — the 5-year-old boy with leukemia who spent a day as a superhero in San Francisco?
Now, a new documentary tells the behind-the-scenes story of that tear-jerking day when Miles Scott became a darling of social media and attracted thousands of fans around the country.
On that day, Batkid was called into service by San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr and spent the day zooming from one “crime scene” to the next.
Crowds grew at every stop Batkid visited, reaching into the thousands. By the time, Scott reached City Hall to receive the key to the city, he was all smiles.
Scott, who battled leukemia for years, was able to fulfill his wish to take on foe after foe through the Make-A- Wish Foundation.
The movie is called “Batkid Begins” and is seeking crowd-funding on Indiegogo for post-production costs.
So far, the filmmakers have raised $52,000 of their $100,000 goal, with 21 days remaining.
