LONDON (AP) — China’s premier has made an official visit to London marked with pomp and ceremony — and the signing of trade deals with Britain that are worth billions of dollars.
Li Keqiang (lee kuh-TYAHNG’) was granted a meeting with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle before arriving in London for a formal inspection of British soldiers and a meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron.
One of the deals signed was between British energy company BP and a Chinese state-owned company, to supply China with liquefied natural gas over 20 years.
Cameron said trade with China is key to helping Britain’s economic recovery.
About 100 rights activists campaigning for Tibetan independence and other issues staged a colorful protest near Downing Street.
