Comedian-actor Tracy Morgan critically hurt in chain-reaction crash on New Jersey Turnpike

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey state police say it appears a tractor-trailer driver failed to notice he was approaching slower traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike early this morning, resulting in a six-vehicle pileup that left one person dead and three others with critical injuries, including actor Tracy Morgan.

Morgan’s publicist says the comedian’s family has joined him at a New Jersey hospital, where he remains in intensive care.

Police say the former “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” cast member was returning from a standup comedy show in Delaware with six others, when their chauffeur-driven limo bus was struck from behind and overturned. That triggered a chain-reaction crash that involved a second tractor-trailer, an SUV and two cars. The New Jersey Turnpike was closed for more than five hours after the crash.
