Veronica Felibert wins Symetra Tour event

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Veronica Felibert won the Credit Union Classic on Sunday for first Symetra Tour title, birdieing three of the last four holes for a three-stroke victory.

Felibert, the 29-year-old former University of Southern California player from Venezuela, closed with a 6-under 65 to finish at 12-under 201 on Drumlins Country Club’s East Course.

“I’m very, very happy,” Felibert said. “I’ve been working very hard and it is finally clicking, so I am very, very excited.”

Felibert earned $15,000 to jump from 42nd to 11th on the money list with $27,941. The top 10 at the end of the season will earn 2015 LPGA Tour cards.

“I’m probably going to cry later because I know myself and this means a lot,” Felibert said. “If you are a player or work on the tour, you know I work very hard and being out here for so many years makes me realize I still haven’t been able to win and I feel so capable. This is very special and I am just so happy.”

Lindy Duncan shot a 66 to finish second.
