Concerns over violence prompt police presence at Md. high school

WASHINGTON – Students at a Silver Spring high school have ended the week on a
tense note after police were called to Springbrook High School Friday on rumors of
potential violence.

Montgomery County schools says it had to take the mention of potential fights on
social
media seriously. It alerted Montgomery County Police, which patrolled Springbrook
High School throughout the day.

A senior says the posts on social media revolved around gang activity, but
nothing has been
confirmed. However, some students are concerned.

“I am nervous because now I’m kinda thinking, what’s going to happen Monday,” asks
a freshman at Springbrook.

Despite false reports, the school system says Springbrook was not been placed on
any sort of lockdown or shelter in place status.
