A group exercise-only fitness studio will open this weekend in downtown Bethesda with an open house, giveaways and passes for free classes.

Next Phase Group Ex, the new concept from former Fitness First General Manager Andy Schaefer, has been in the works for more than a year and will open in the space above the Chipotle at 7610 Old Georgetown Rd. (Plaza Level).

Next Phase will offer some yoga, some Zumba, some boot camp, some high-intensity athletic training and a number of other formats taught by instructors Schaefer has gotten to know through his years with Fitness First.

Classes will be offered one-at-a-time, in packs of five, 10, 20 and then at an unlimited monthly rate. The gym will offer 9-10 classes a day at a median price of $13-$15 per class.

The studio will host an open house form 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Attendees will get a free class pass, giveaways and homemade chocolate-covered pretzels.

Next Phase is also offering unlimited free classes on Monday and Tuesday to those who book online.
