Area Business Leaders Push For Eight-Car Metro Trains – A group of area business leaders, including Greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ginanne Italiano, are pushing for eight-car Metro trains to alleviate train overcrowding common in the system’s core. Riemer Looking For Liquor Reform Hashtag – Councilmember Hans Riemer last week asked his Facebook followers for a hashtag to describe efforts to reform the county’s control liquor model. The Facebook post came after a Council hearing in which members of Council learned that the county doesn’t allow one-day licenses for selling bottles of wine in church or nonprofit auctions. He got an array of responses, including one from the county’s Department of Liquor Control that said the church wine sale rule is a statewide law that Montgomery County is working to change. The DLC also suggested its own hashtags: #DLCforabettercommunity and #DLCrocks. [Bethesda Magazine]

White Flint Committee Looking For Members – The county advisory board charged to set up a urban partnership-type group for the future “downtown White Flint” has two openings. Openings are for a small business representative (25 employees or fewer) and a commercial property owner. The group meets once a month at 8 a.m. on a Tuesday. [Friends of White Flint]

Air Quality Warning In Effect Tuesday – With warm, humid temperatures comes the forecast of unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. People with lung disease, older adults and children are at a greater risk from exposure to ozone and people with heart and lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk from the presence of particles in the air.
