July 4 is just around the corner.

To celebrate next Friday, there will be a number of Independence Day fireworks displays and family-oriented events nearby and elsewhere around Montgomery County:

Chevy Chase Village will host its annual Parade to the Park starting at 10:15 a.m. at the Village Hall (5906 Connecticut Ave.). The parade will leave Village Hall at 10:30 a.m. and there will be refreshments until about 12:30 p.m.

The Town of Chevy Chase will again put on a parade and picnic and host music and games, this time outside of the Jane Lawton Community Center (4301 Willow Lane.) The events will lead up to the traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence. RSVPs are encouraged.

The 18th Annual Bike Parade in the Town of Kensington will start at 10 a.m., though participants are encouraged to start lining up at 9:45 a.m. The parade is open to “all those young at heart,” and typically includes participants who decorate their bikes, scooters, wagons or strollers before following a Kensington Volunteer Fire Department truck through the streets of Kensington.

Montgomery County will put on two fireworks displays — one at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown (18041 Central Park Circle) and one at Albert Einstein High School in Kensington (11135 Newport Rd.). Both shows will start at about 9:15 p.m. with concerts starting at 7 p.m. in Germantown and 7:30 p.m. in Kensington. More information on parking and what’s allowed is here.

The City of Rockville will also hold its annual Independence Day Celebration starting at 7 p.m. at the Rockville Campus of Montgomery College (51 Mannakee St.). Fireworks get started at 9:15 p.m. in the Montgomery College football stadium and music starts at 7 p.m. on two stages.
