Police Say Woman Stole $20,000 Worth Of Rare Books From Neighbor – Police say a woman stole more than $20,000 worth of rare books from an unsuspecting neighbor over a year. The victim only found out when she saw the books — one from the 1630′s — sold on eBay. Police have charged Christina Wimmel, 31, of Bethesda, with three felony theft counts related to the crime. Elrich Has Different View On Contributions From Realtors PAC – At large Councilmember Marc Elrich is often a lone vote against redevelopment allowed in new master plans. His campaign literature says he does not take political contributions from developers. He did get $6,000 last month from the Maryland Association of Realtors, which he said shouldn’t be viewed as developers but as realtors. Elrich is supporting Council candidates who got contributions from developer interests, one who is running against a candidate who recieved the same $6,000 Realtor PAC donation. [Washington Post]

Washington Area’s Economic Strength – The entire Washington D.C. region (including Montgomery County) has a Gross Metropolitan Product of $458.1 billion, according to a report released last week by the U.S. Conference of Mayors. The report was made to sure the economic importance of metropolitan areas. The Washington area had the fifth highest “GMP,” and topped all but 26 countries. [Washington Business Journal]
